Default Lock the Trunk while leaving the car doors unlocked

Just got my new Cascada 8 days ago.

Having owned convertibles in the past my rule has always been to leave the doors unlocked and lock any valuables in the trunk. The problem is that I can only lock the trunk while locking the doors. I have tried locking the doors and trunk and unlocking the driver door with the key. This is annoying and leaves the passenger door locked.

Does anyone have an easy fix? Thanks

I gotta ask-----why is your rule to leave the doors unlocked?

If someone wants something in the car I would rather they open the door than slash the top.

Grew up in Detroit where they teach you things like that.

Ditto! In addition, leave a couple of bucks on the console for thieves to take. Chances are thieves will leave the top alone.

bshep19....

I have a 2017, and I have found that with the driver door open, I hit the lock button either on the remote, or the one on the dash. I then manually pull up on the lock post on the driver door, and close it. The door remains unlocked, but the trunk does stay locked. (Of course the horn alarm will sound if the door is subsequently opened, without the remote unlock being depressed)

Hope this works for your model.
