Cool Water filled rear quarters...

Much sloshing sounds of water in the Cascada at the weekend. In the rear near side (offside for the Buickís) quarter, in front of the wheel. I had a look underneath and there was a bung on the sill. It came out with a wiggle and dumped about five litres of clean water on the road. No more sloshing sounds, other side is dry.

It leaves the odd dribble from the drains behind the wheel arch covers but this is the first time the panel has filled up. With the door open it looks like there is a gap in the seal. Itís a 2013 Car so no warranty or recall possible, but Iíve bought a cover. Might also try and adjust the door so it closes a bit tighter.

However, what sounded like a big problem, was very easy to solve, so if you hear water in the rear quarters... there are drains!

Hi Barry I'm very sorry to hear about your problem and I'm glad you figured it out. I live in the U.S. and I am pretty much uninformed about Cascada's or any car for that matter. I know GM owns Opel but I am under the impression that they didn't start selling them in the U.S. until 2016. You have a 2013 model so I'm guessing they have been selling the Cascada across pond for some time. Do you know how far back in time they have been making them? Do you know when they started sending them to the U.S.? Are they the same car? Any light you can shine on the subject would be illuminating.

Hi Bob, as far as I can see it’s the same car, launched in 2013 in the UK and Europe under the GM Vauxhall / Opel badge. We got the remote hood operation and you got the auto gear boxes I guess . Mines a base spec model, but it’s a lot of fun. We’ve had it remapped so it’s nearer 160bhp which makes it a smoother drive. I picked up a mesh wind deflector from Germany that makes it very pleasant to drive.

Hi again Barry and thank you for replying. I know with you being British and me being an American we call different things by different names so when you say you have remote "Hood" operation do you mean what Americans call a "top" or do you mean what Britt's call a "Bonnet" ? What is remapped, a souped up engine of some kind I guess. So does your Cascada have a manual gearbox? I remember my MG manual said to raise the Bonnet and my Norton manual talked about using a "Tommy bar". They both had me confused but I figured it out. Cheers
