Would likely be rebadged as a Buick

Opel just took the wraps off the 2013 Cascada, but a new report is indicating GM CEO Dan Akerson wants to bring the model to the United States.

According to Autoweek's sources, American executives are clamoring for the new convertible. Akerson was so impressed that he reportedly asked "Why don't we bring it to the U.S.?"

As we have previously reported, the Cascada will be launched in Europe early next year. It will be available with a variety of engines including:

A turbocharged 1.4-liter petrol with outputs of 120 HP (88 kW) and 220 Nm (162 lb-ft) of torque as well as 140 HP (103 kW) and 220 Nm (162 lb-ft) of torque
A 1.6-liter SIDI Turbo ECOTEC with 170 HP (125 kW) and 280 Nm (206 lb-ft) of torque
A 2.0 CDTI with 165 HP (121 kW) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque
