I had a rattle on drivers side , lubed the little black roller that the tonneau cover engages when closed with white grease. Rattle no more!

Yes I had the same problem. My rattle came from one of the gas filled struts that are attached to the box that the top folds into within the trunk. The C-clip that secures the strut to the box was not installed correctly. I pulled it off with a needle nose and pressed it back on correctly. Rattle has stopped. Mine was on the drivers side. Pull the box down like you would to lower the top and see if the bottom of the strut has any sideways play in it. If it has then look at the clip that secures it to the box.

The photo POV is looking into the trunk on the passenger side. Driver's side is basically a mirror image.

UPDATE:
On our cars there is a plastic "ice cooler" housing the top folds into. It is viewable with the trunk lid open. This is the same housing that can be retracted from the trunk up and into the tonneau area when the top is up to give more room in the trunk.
On each side of the housing is a metal frame that supports it. There are two round metal arms, one on each side, that slide over a short axle and are secured by a flange. (See the picture below) The flange tends to work loose and these arms can work their way off the axle and dangle/rattle. If the arms are simply put back in place, secured with the flange and the flange is secured with some light duty Loctite that may quiet your rattle.
Note that when the flange works loose, it will fall into your trunk down into the carpet. With a good flashlight, you should be able to find it.
In the pic below, you can see the passenger side arm clearly (aluminum color) with the problematic flange attached at the end of the axle. If the flange works loose, the arm vibrates off over time, comes off the axle and dangles loose in the trunk.

My driver side is rattling in the back by the window when I hit a bump. Lubricated a lot of parts and still there. If I could get a picture also. gmjlineman1@hotmail.com

Can someone email me or text me a picture of the "2 prong fork bracket" mentioned in the Buick Cascada convertible roof noise mentioned in Dadio's article above.
